Application
- Sillimanite is primarily used in the production of refractory bricks and materials because of its ability to withstand high temperatures and thermal shock. It has a high melting point (about 1,800°C), making it ideal for use in furnaces, kilns, steel mills, and other high-temperature industrial processes
- Sillimanite is also used as a raw material in ceramics and as an advanced material in aerospace engineering
- Sillimanite's high resistance to wear and high temperatures also makes it useful in the foundry industry, where it is used as a mold material, especially in the casting of metals that require high heat resistance.
